Create a stocked product

A stocked product (a finished good) is a physical item you hold in a warehouse. It’s inventory-tracked, so beyond a revenue account it also needs inventory and cost-of-goods-sold accounts.

Start a new product.

From Products, open the catalogue and choose "New product".

Set the type and turn on tracking.

Choose the Finished good type and turn on inventory tracking — the inventory and cost-of-goods-sold fields appear.

Choose the three accounts.

Pick the revenue, inventory, and cost-of-goods-sold accounts. Receipts post to inventory; issues and sales move the cost to COGS.

Save the product.

The product opens on its detail page as a draft. Activate it there, then it’s ready to receive into a warehouse and sell.
