Run payroll

A payroll run takes a pay period from a draft to posted: build it, calculate everyone’s pay, submit it for approval, have a second person approve it, then post it to the ledger.

1

Build the run.

From HR & Payroll, open Payroll runs and build one for the period — set the start and end dates, the pay date, and the frequency. It starts as a draft.

2

Calculate the run.

Calculate to produce a payslip for each included employee — gross, deductions, and net pay. Review the lines before submitting.

3

Submit and approve.

Submit the run for approval. A different person — not the one who calculated it — approves or rejects it. This separation of duties is enforced.

4

Post to the ledger.

Once approved, post the run. mujez books the payroll journal — salary expense, net pay payable, and statutory liabilities — and links the journal reference to the run.
