A cost object is whatever you want to know the cost of — a branch, a project, a product, a service line. Each one binds to a ledger dimension, so the costs already tagged in your journals flow straight through to it.

Add a cost object.

Choose a type — branch, project, product, service line, and more — and give it a code and a name.

Each cost object you add appears in the list with its type and status. Deactivate any you no longer cost.
